About Dr Georgia Frangou

With a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Psychology, and more than 15 years of experience in hospital, community, and private practice settings, I bring a depth of understanding to the challenges you may be facing.

My clinical work is grounded in evidence-based therapies, with a particular focus on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Whether you experience intense emotions, impulsive behaviours, trauma-related difficulties, or challenges in relationships, we work together towards meaningful and sustainable change in a collaborative, non-judgemental space.

I mainly work with adults, and also have extensive experience supporting adolescents presenting with emotion dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal behaviours, personality difficulties, anxiety, depression and trauma-related difficulties.

Training & credentials

  • PhD in Psychology
  • Master's Degree (MSc) in Clinical Psychology
  • DBT-certified
  • EMDR-trained, including protocol-based trauma work
  • Training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and third-wave approaches
  • Over 15 years of clinical experience
  • Experience in multidisciplinary and hospital-based teams

Is therapy right for you?

During assessment, we consider the concerns you are facing now, as well as the experiences that may be keeping you stuck. Therapy may be particularly helpful if you recognise yourself in some of the following:

  • Feeling emotions very intensely or rapidly changing moods
  • Engaging in self-harm or having thoughts of suicide
  • Experiencing long-standing difficulties in relationships
  • Living with trauma-related difficulties or distressing memories
  • Feeling empty, overwhelmed, or out of control
  • Using impulsive behaviours to cope (e.g. substance use, binge eating)

A thorough assessment will help us decide together whether DBT, EMDR, CBT, or another evidence-based approach is most appropriate for your needs.

You don't have to face this alone.

If you're struggling with overwhelming emotions, difficult memories, or patterns that feel impossible to break — therapy can help. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

Frequently asked questions

Practical information about starting therapy, what to expect, and how sessions are organised.

What can I expect in the first appointment?

The initial assessment is an opportunity for us to understand your current difficulties, personal history, and what you would like to change. We will discuss whether DBT, EMDR, or another approach is most suitable and, if so, agree on a treatment plan together.

How long does therapy usually last?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the nature of your difficulties. Some people attend for a focused number of sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We review progress regularly and decide together about ongoing sessions.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, online sessions via secure video platform can be arranged for clients who are based outside Limassol or who require remote appointments. This can be discussed during the initial consultation.

Is this an emergency service?

No. The practice does not provide crisis or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact local emergency services or attend your nearest Accident & Emergency department.
